A Private Marina Serving Lake Leelanau Families Since 1912Our grandfather, William Stander, began Stander Marine, Inc. in 1912 selling, repairing and storing boats for all the boating families on Lake Leelanau. Our father, Charles "Chuck" Stander, continued the tradition of making summers on Lake Leelanau boating summers for the many families who had come to rely on the many boating services Stander Marine, Inc. offered - and introduced our full-service Ski-doo snowmobile dealership to the "winter-sports enthusiasts" in Leelanau County. And now, we too are proud to be third-generation (fourth-generation during the summer!) Standers at the helm of Stander Marine, Inc., providing all-year service to Lake Leelanau boating and snowmobiling families.Terri Stander-Gibson and Andrew D. Stander Boat Slips and Dry StorageStander Marine, Inc. is a private marina on the Leland River serving Lake Leelanau boaters. We have seventy boat slips - some have been used by many of the same families since 1912. We maintain an active waiting list for our wet slips.We also offer "in and out" Dry Storage for your boats. We started with Mercury, then Polaris, then Moto Ski (which became Bombardier) and became an authorized and certified dealer for Ski-doo snowmobiles in the late 70's, offering the same high level of sales and service benefits that our summer boating families have enjoyed for many years. Traditionally, Leelanau County businesses enlist a variety of ways in the winter to supplement their main summer business. Luckily for our family we found the perfect winter sports business to add to Stander Marine, Inc. (It helped that as a family we are passionate snowmobilers too!)During winter months our showroom is filled with a full selection of these "sleds" and we also have racks full of jackets, bibs, gloves and helmets to keep you warm and safe while you are enjoying your Ski-doo snowmobiling experience in Leelanau County. When you get a chance, stop by our showroom and take a look at the bright "bumblebee-yellow" vintage 1972 Ski-doo snowmobile. Fuel and Boat AccessoriesStander Marine, Inc. is one of the few locations on Lake Leelanau to purchase fuel. Our pumps are always ready to fill up your tanks!We also stock a full line of boating accessories including life jackets, tubes for when you are ready to go tubing, fiber, upholstery and wood cleaners, anchors, dock lines and other marine accessories. Chris Craft and Wooden BoatsWe have always had wooden boats docked at Stander Marine, Inc. and we are very experienced in the care and handling of wooden boats.They too have become like family to us. Our grandfather took delivery of five Chris Craft wooden boats when they were brand new. Over the years these same Chris Craft boats have become "vintage wooden boats", but to us they are still just part of our traditional boating family. Stander Marine, Inc.
